The Beauty of Nature
Located in the heart of Main Street in charming historic Hendersonville, NC just south of Asheville, McCarter Gallery specializes in fine art of the Beauty of Nature --- in original paintings, giclees and prints.
It is also the working studio-gallery of well-known regional artist Alan McCarter. Inspired by the gentle yet exalted beauty of Nature in the Western North Carolina and East Tennessee landscape, surrounded by the magnificent Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway, the artist and his wife, Robbin, left other careers behind in order to devote themselves to painting the beauty of the region as their life's work.
Alan does acrylic landscape painting in a style of soft, idealized, romantic realism but also in refined impressionism. His subjects are misty mountains and sparkling streams, colorful wildflowers and majestic waterfalls - the Appalachian landscape in all its natural glory.
Robbin does watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting in both soft realist and visionary styles, interpreting the graceful individuality of nature's forms and revealing more eternal realms as well: high flowing mountain ridges, birds and delicate wildflowers in natural woodland settings, and these same themes also in more heavenly visions bathed in waves of color and light.
Whether traditional or more ethereal in style, their nature art is clearly inspirational and purposed to uplift the viewer to a realm of beauty and goodness. Like the Hudson River painters of the 19th century, the McCarters seek to reveal the divine in Nature in a glorified manner and to share it with all. Their fine art --- in original paintings, enhanced giclees on canvas, and prints --- fills their gallery.
The artists invite you to come visit their gallery, to share in the peaceful and uplifting vision of their paintings and enjoy the atmosphere of a Sanctuary of Nature within.
