About Giclées
The giclée is an extremely high quality method of fine art printing whereby artists can obtain reproductions of their paintings that are the closest possible to their originals. The term is derived from the French "giclée" meaning spray, referring to the ink jet type process whereby an advanced high-tech fine art printer reproduces the original using a fine spray of ink droplets onto artist-quality canvas or paper, proofed by the artist and meticulously computerized to produce the finest quality art print available today.
Originals on canvas by Alan and Robbin McCarter are digitally captured and then meticulously and repeatedly proofed by the artists for color corrections. Once approved by the artists, they are reproduced onto canvas and varnished several times to protect the image. Our giclées are made using permanent pigment inks that have been tested technically to last well over 100 years. Those larger than 12" x 16" are made in a signed and numbered limited edition which can also be enhanced (embellished) by the artist who then paints over certain areas. An enhanced giclée thereby has original elements to it and is unique.
Giclées may come in a few different sizes for each image. Each one is signed, or signed and numbered in a very small limited edition. We can also make custom sizes to fit individual needs. The result is always a beautiful reproduction of the artist's work in the highest quality, as close as technically possible to the artist's original.
